[ALPHA.masterpool.eu] Merged Mining Test Server - TESTNET!

Post by nodemaster »

https://alpha.masterpool.eu The only purpose of this alpha pool is to test merged mining.

WARNING! This pool is in ALPHA status. This means your can test, but you get no payouts (we are running on testnet anyway, thus the revenues are not usable on standard bitcoin or namecoin net). Furthermore most of the mined coins will be invalid/orphaned even on testnet. Everything on this site may crash and burn or kill kittens. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

- Most blocks ORPHANED
- No Payouts!
- Pool in fully untested Alpha status
- Most things DON'T work

BUT

- It is running on BTC and NMC testnet
- You can use and test merged mining
- You'll see what you would have mined with merged mining

Please choose any miner and try to test this pool (mining URL http://alpha.masterpool.eu:8888). This is more or less a miner test. Thus please report if you have any issues with any miner on this pool. This is only a VPS. Thus please don't hammer it and don't expect it to be fixed within minutes if it crashes! However I'll implement some more features the next days and hopefully get at least BTC testnet ready for payout.

Current status:
I reinstalled the known good versions. The webfronent has the most current masterpool.eu SVN trunk running (expect some glitches, but it's fairly stable. NMC blocks are still orphaned and thus cannot be payed out (In fact I removed a check, thus you can simulate doing the payout it will be substracted from your account, but the transaction can not be done by namecoind as there are no funds). Testnet BTC payouts should work but it is untested.

The next days I'll try to upgrade to namceoind/bitcoind merged-mine RC.

As always the disclaimer: DON'T expect to get any payouts from the alpha pool!

Thanks for setting this up again. What username / password do I use?

Tried "signiing up" - but haven't received any email, so I tried my main pool login, but that didn't work either!

nodemaster you were right when you said many things don't work. I tried to sign up and it told me to check my email. I have still not gotten any email concerning my account.

Has the signup process been tested at the very least?

Otherwise, testing will be impossible.

I'm so sorry guys  I added functionality to use a local mailserver in the latest version because I wanted to make sure, that E-mails are qeued if the main mailserver is not reachable for some reason. Unfortunately I forgot to install a mailserver on the alpha VPS. Furthermore the monitoring on alpha is not so tight as on production (in regards of mails being sent or not it is nonexistent).

I removed all unverified users. Thus you are able to register again. Sorry for that :|

Just saw vinced released a new RC (RC3). I'll go and compile the new version and have to restart the daemons. I'll let you know as soon as we either roll back to the current configuration or use the new RCs.

I just successfully updated the pool to RC3. Everything seems to work so far. I'm mining a bit, to see if the pool is working without problems. Just let me know if you have any problem.

So i've signed up & had 2 workers mining for an hour or so. Can't connect to web interface, so I can't see how it's going. But seems to work from the miner's end....

Ok, web is back... I'll try again...

[Edit: It seems I can't reach the web interface from the ip the miners are on, when they are mining. Works fine thru a proxy.]

Thank you for testing! Would you mind tell us which miner you were using? Why can't you connect to the webinterface? Is this a limitation on your side or do you have problems connecting? For me the Webinterface is available.

Current status:

We are running on testnet with merged mining RC3. We have solved four BTC blocks so far. I get occasional disconnects or long polls failing on my miner. But it might have to do with the poor VPS. It's quite underpowered.
