DNS suffix: yet another way to enable .bit

Post by OCTAGRAM »

I've added some info

http://dot-bit.org/HowToBrowseBitDomain ... resolution

Most DNS servers are useless as DNS suffix because queries constructed by OS resolver contain ".bit.", and these DNS proxies lack .bit

namecoin.us looked appropriate, but both namecoin.us and bitname.org seem to be not working at the moment even in an intended use case.

Both "custom DNS server" and "custom DNS suffix" methods are easy for non-advanced one, but DNS suffix has a benefit of being stackable. One might want to reach several nonstandard TLDs, and one can use several search domains this way. Another benefit is low latency lookups on ISP DNS. Most queries are being answered by ISP DNS. retracker.local and dchub.local are not lost. Low latency lookups can also occur given that several users use the same DNS suffix.
