TLS Support

Post by dtoren »

A paragraph at http://dot-bit.org/Domain_names#TLS_support references:
It is recommended that Namecoin client software generate a unique self-signed certificate and install it as a trusted root Certificate Authority in the appropriate TLS clients, such as web browsers.
which in theory sounds really interesting. I can't find any documentation related to generating self signed certificate however. Is this referring to a self-signed certificate for a web server, or perhaps a WIP? Maybe I misinterpreted it as being something Namecoin itself would generate.

I had assumed after reading that that (for example) https://wikileaks.bit could be viewed without an invalid certificate warning in Firefox by importing a CA certificate from Namecoin that would do the DNS verification on such a self-signed certificate as they have.
