Hi Pi0101

i just want to point out that with core you update a name, either by using the renew name button, or by double click on it and pressing OK.

if it gives you a error "this name cannot be updated" it means that the name has expired. and if it says "Input tx not found in wallet" it means that the name expired and now another person has it.

So basically any name with a negative number in the "Expires in" is basically dead, useless, and "for your information only", you can forget about it. That may make your screen a bit of a mess since you have so many domains.

So, that is two more things that should be improved, Biolizard.

How about a checkbox "Hide expired names" ?
Keep calm and gather moar namecoins

That would be this issue, I think: https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin-core/issues/131 .

Okay thanks for all that my IT guy is coming today.
I don't believe my core names should be expired by now, but when I check the transaction details on qt it says which domains and transactions they are in a very simple way, whereas with core it just shows a transaction ID # which I find hard to tie to a specific transaction.

My qt was running fine for renewing domains, but I finally had a batch where the confirmations are still on pending but now the blocks are expired. Any thoughts on that? Fortunately I go to another wallet to try and register them it says even on them that it is still pending.

So what is the best way to switch my qt to a core at this point?
I'm thinking about getting a new computer.

I think I like the qt interface better, but if the protocol isn't liked by the miners and
did you say it's more open to hack attacks? Is that just for the miners or does that include me?
If that includes me then I got to get this figured out especially fast, but hope I can fix what I'm not understanding about core.

Any chance you could privately send me a screenshot of this? (jeremy@namecoin.org is fine as usual) I don't think what you're describing is normal behavior, I'd like to see if I can track down what's causing it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the blocks are expired". Do you mean that the transactions haven't confirmed for a while? If so, canceling the tranaactions and trying to send them again is the easiest workaround if you're on 0.3.80.

Namecoin 0.3.80 doesn't enforce several softforks and standardness rules that are enforced by Namecoin Core. That means that unconfirmed incoming transactions in Namecoin 0.3.80 are somewhat more likely to be fraudulent than unconfirmed incoming transactions in Namecoin Core. In theory, as long as the miners aren't doing anything mischievous, and as long as you're not trusting unconfirmed transactions, this doesn't affect your security. However, the primary incentive for miners to not do anything sketchy is that invalid blocks will be rejected by Namecoin Core nodes. So if you upgrade to Namecoin Core, you're helping to keep miners honest.

Okay so I got a new computer it should be good too. I think what we could do is we could install my wallet running as a core, would that work?
Plus I have all these domains pending the minors aren't mining on my qt. Could I transfer everything with the transactions pending?
We tried to cancel one now it's not in my wallet but it's stuck on pending when I try to re register it?

So in this version it says label instead of address and the name addresses are missing and all those other things seem to be gone on how to configure the domain. Did I need those to build on zeronet or could I get by with out it? Anyways the domain name transaction name is missing, can only get id options on this one.

I have when I buy a domain 3600 blocks, I started registering when the block were low like 100 or 70 and the minors didn't mine them so I have domains expired while stuck on waiting for a transfer.

I tried canceling and regetting one and its no longer in my wallet but I can't register it because its stuck on pending still

Hmmm no I do remember briefly looking over it today. My tech guy should be coming back tomorrow so maybe that's something we could try and see if it works, or maybe re tried it.. I don't know I'll have to get back to you on that.

Hmm, wow. Yeah, that's definitely not normal, and I've never seen that happen. I'm not sure what could cause that, but I'll point Brandon (our Namecoin Core GUI specialist) to this thread to see if he has any suggestions on how to diagnose the issue. (I suspect he'll ask for a debug.log from the affected Namecoin Core installation, and there's a possibility he'll suggest a -salvagewallet operation... but I'll let him speak for himself.)
