People,
From here:
http://www.freespeechme.org/download-an ... ostnorton1
it should have taken only about 5 hours to get the whole blockchain that should allow me to browse all the dot-bit web sites but it has been days now and I still can't get onto:
https://www.veclabs.bit
although I was able to get onto:
https://dot-bit.bit/How_To_Browse_Bit_Domains
after a few hours.
Tailing debug.log and grep for height, the last line I have is:
SetBestChain: new best=e6ca4161a88f114bc888 height=223600 work=3386320884422537781923091
Am I still missing something?
Thanks,
Phil.

Re: FreeSpeechMe: taking days to get the blockchain loaded?
This is perfectly correct. If you want to know the current block height (block number), trySetBestChain: new best=e6ca4161a88f114bc888 height=223600
http://explorer.namecoin.info/stats/block_count.txt
or
http://namecha.in
I cannot resolve this one, either. Seems there is something wrong with Jeremy's veclabs server setup. For a quick .bit browsing test: http://nx.bit/

Re: FreeSpeechMe: taking days to get the blockchain loaded?
Hi Phil,
Thank you for pointing this out. It seems that veclabs.bit was pointing to an old server that I closed a couple months ago. I've just updated it to point to the current server; it should take effect in about 40 minutes (assuming I didn't make a mistake when updating it). Also note that the version of NMControl that is shipped with FreeSpeechMe is old enough that it doesn't support veclabs.bit (which uses a newer feature of the .bit spec); if you're using your own NMControl installation with FreeSpeechMe then it will work fine. I really need to update the FreeSpeechMe website to mention this, as it's probably confusing.
Thanks for testing!

cassini,
Thanks! and http://nx.bit does indeed work.
biolizard89,
https://www.veclabs.bit is still not working for me - "if you're using your own NMControl installation with FreeSpeechMe then it will work fine. I really need to update the FreeSpeechMe website to mention this, as it's probably confusing." - I am just getting started so I am not using any of my own anything so far . . good idea to update the doc . .
Regards,
Phil.

I added a note to http://www.freespeechme.org/list-of-wor ... -websites/ . That entire website is pending a rewrite, so hopefully that suffices for the moment. (Too much to do, too little time....)
