Transaction creation failed

Post by Bartimaeus »

Hey

When I try to update my domain it gives me an error - "Error: Transaction creation Failed."
If I try it through the console it gives me the same error but with "(code -4)" in the end.

Windows 7 - 64bit
Namecoin-QT client 0.3.76.2

The domain I'm trying to update has an empty value. I cannot remember if it ever had a value in case it ever exceeded 520 characters.

I remember fiddling about a lot when trying to transfer ownership from Onename to myself. Although I'm not certain it is the same domain in question.
At that time I managed to create quite a few addresses and cluttered my wallet but I do not dare to remove anything until I know what's going on.

All help appreciated.

Because nobody was able to spot this "Transaction creation Failed" message in Bartimaeus' screenshot. He didn't even bother to tell us which domain name he was talking about. We got no transaction id, no info from his debug.log, nothing.

if OP is talking about: http://namecha.in/search?query=050a3d89 ... c39836d3d7
that tx never got thru. there is no 050a.... name he needs to do a rescan, and then a namefirstupdate.
if that's not possible, it's a bug with an old tx than didn't make it, try from another wallet. If it doesn't work it looks like because of some rule on the code that name is not allowed.
if it's
http://namecha.in/name/d/cA
looks like everything is fine.

If anyone else has this problem, it's *probably* due to some sort of wallet corruption. I am not 100% sure of the cause, but we've had at least one instance where we were able to recover from the situation. Please hop on IRC if you're having this problem, I have some recovery tools but they're finicky.

I removed the blockchain fully, let it resync and tried to send the funds.
Again fail with message Fout: aanmaak transactie mislukt!

This is what i see several times in the log
ERROR: ConnectInputsHook() : name_firstupdate on an unexpired name
ERROR: AcceptToMemoryPool() : ConnectInputs failed 50d96dad23
storing orphan tx 50d96dad23

So what i found out is i have 30 nmc but can not send them untill i lower it to around 22 then i can send those.
I have not send anything but looks like something went wrong

This bug is bad enough that I think we should pull the current client until it is fixed.

I see the same error when trying to send some nmc to shapeshift.
Onl;y 3.x nmc, not much, but I tried a lower amount, etc.
Using the latest client I found = 380
Client shows it is fully up to date.
Does this mean I have wallet corruption?
I will search more, but haven't found a 'for sure' answer, ty for any replies

Ryan would probably like to talk to you; can you stop by IRC (#namecoin on Freenode)? His username is ryan-c.
