Difficulty has decreased to 290

The difficulty has decreased for the first time, from 512 (arbitrary defined at the beginning) to 290.

Domains will be easier to get :p

Yea darn, was a little upset to see that, considering I've been throwing 2Ghps at it for the last few days... but at least it's not down to 1

I wonder if bitcoincharts.com will release their difficulty estimation script used for bitcoin, would be nice to know where the difficulty is going for namecoin as well.

I predict the higher the difficult of creating bitcoins goes, the more people will switch to generating namecoins.

New difficulty 1264 ...

more than doubled from 589 ... this makes them more expensive to acquire by mining therefore price with respect to BTC should reflect the relative difficulty of the two blockchains... or?

Currently BTC diff. = 244139
NMC diff. = 1264

Current Ratio BTC/NMC = 193

Estimated next BTC diff. = 405000

Estimated Ratio BTC/NMC = 320

So 320 to 193 NMC = 1 BTC ... based purely on hashpower to acquire.

So which one is best to put your money on BTC or NC?

And what is the current value per name coin?

do we say x / y = z

x = mt gox usd price lets say $7 and y = number of NC you get per BTC in this case lets say 193 then z = 0.036 mtgox usd per name coin

is that right?

difficulty ratio BTC/NMC now at 154.

Implied price ratio 0.006 BTC = 1 NMC

Hell yeah, that's what we BTC miners are waiting for... miners at the ready.. scripts/bat files ready go roll

Gonna have quite a lot of GHash/s added to the mix just from my little group of peeps

At the moment we are able to get 1 BTC per 400 Mhash/s GPU... and that's being generous !

Two or three more difficulty increases like the last few and we'll all become Namecoin miners

That's good to know. It'll be worthwhile using our miners for Namecoin mining, just not yet. BTC is still worth more. But possibly, or more like probably, not for long

There is a topic on Russian bitcoin section where people discovered Namecoin is more profitable and switched to mining it

I've added Namecoin profitability calculation to my chart - http://tvori.info/bitcoin/charts/, and it seems that there is a major mining overkill happening
