New to nmc mining

Post by Sudsy »

I am wondering if I am doing this right or just wasting time and electricity.

I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I have the GUIMiner - v2011-07-01 that I have been using to mine BTC ( I have shut the BTC miner down while trying this ).
I decided to try some NMC mining. I went to http://bitparking.com/pool and followed the directions.

Set http://bitparking.com as Host.
Set 9098 as Port.
Used a namecoin receiving address as Username and set a random 22 digit password.
Set my gpu ( Cypress ) as the Device
and used -v -w128 -f1 as Extra Flags ( like I use with Bitcoin mining )
and pressed start.

Everything seems to be working. I am getting shares. I have 400 - 440 Mhash/s.

I go to that site and put that Username address in the 'Check Balance and Withdraw' field and click the button and I have these stats
after running it between 2 and 3 hours:

Shares 1102
Total Pool Shares 236562
Hash Rate (MHash/second) 421.497
Work Rate (getworks/second) 0.188
Blocks Found 0
Balance 0.00000000

Is this normal? Why is there still no balance after this amount of time?

Thanks

Yes, normal. Balance only updates after a block is found by the pool.

Okay. Thanks for letting me know I am not doing something wrong there.

At the current difficulty how long does it take for the pool to find a block approximately?

I wanted to mine some so I can try sending myself some NMC to make sure I have everything
set up alright on my machine, in case I need to withdraw from the bitparking exchange ( I bought
NMC there and didn't mine any before ) because of the upcoming attack.

Anyone want to send a small amount just so I can see something in my wallet? :)
