"Who would want that?" domain extensions.

Post by MaxSan »

After discussiong namecoin with some fellow colleagues the response i got when I mentioned the .bit extension was somewhat negative.

Whats the situation about adapting other, even custom, extensions?

I assume this would not be THAT difficult but but aslong it isnt ICANN registered we could use it theoretically, right?

Is there a way to adapt more than just .bit within the namespace? so could have custom extensions?

Secondly, what happens if this became valuable and "someone" purchased the .bit extension from ICANN. What would this mean exactly?
