Client to automatically modify hosts file?

Hi,

I was thinking of modifying the client to automatically add DNS information into the hosts file on your computer from the locally stored blocks. This way no extension needs to be made for the .bit sites to work on all browsers. What do you guys think?

Whats the situation tho on getting outside computers to work with the .bit domain with no client? cant a firefox addon be made or something? or is it more technical? im not so familiar with this exactly. Im struggling to understand why .bit doesnt work anyway lol.
