Doge coin wants to get in on the domain name racket!

Post by indolering »

I thought everyone else might get a kick out of this

indolering: It’s bad, but it will get better soon.
indolering: We finally have a system to work out a price floor.
REDACTED: How well it get better?
REDACTED: Oh
indolering: Previously, we didn’t have a way to check namecoin’s $ value.
indolering: So it was just randomly thrown out ther.
REDACTED: Come #dogecoin
indolering: But, with all of the exchanges and even Ripple and whatnot, we can get reliable
indolering: Really?
REDACTED: Why not?
REDACTED: Oh no sorry
REDACTED: I mean #dogecoin-dev
indolering: Why did you even ask?
REDACTED: Cuz we were talking about address aliases
REDACTED: You know?
indolering: It’s harder than it looks.
REDACTED: Yeah
REDACTED: We talked about squatting etc
indolering: Then there is ICANN, UN, and other politics
indolering: We have active fronts there.
indolering: And, well, the main reason we want Namecoin addresses is so we can have .onion URLs that aren’t just SHA-1 hashes.
indolering: People fucking die when you screw up Tor-related software.
REDACTED: Icann ? What do they have to do with it?

So does KittehCoin, whatever that is:

"I thought everyone else might get a kick out of this"....you're laughing, however.....

......Basically, I think every new CryptoCoin / blockchain solution / MaidSafe / BitShares / Ethereum / blah blah blah etc....is going to be doing Alternative DNS pretty soon. Namecoin is going to need to really step up to the plate and solve a number of issues to remain the frontrunner in it.

(begin the MWD bashing, but in a year I'll likely point to this post and say "told ya so"....That is, if this website can stay up that long....which is one of the many issues that needs solving.)

If you want to have a clear, off-board conversation with me about what I see as the issues, let me know. If not, well, some other coin or system is going to take over alt-DNS, for sure, the way things are.

Edit: did you know that BitShares has raised a million dollars in Bitcoin alone?

VERY important point. Which is why we haven't even tried to touch .onion in MeowBit.

doge, next, bitshares, etc are pump & dump schemes, why? because they have an artificial market cap done by a few people controlling most of the coins, they were millions of coins "sold" on an auction IPO style (traded otc for prices close to DVC before going to exchanges) So there's some individuals with lots of coins to spare (stolen?) that pump(ed) the value and then sell high some and hold a lot (POS). the mineable, "asic-resistant" one's are hold mostly by bot-nets.

So basically they can have all the features they want they will copy and be copied, but if there's no liquidity their value only moves from p&d's. Stay away or mine and sell.
