Anyone seen what these guys are up to: https://www.netki.com/

Sounds like an interesting idea! Unfortunately, they don't document very clearly how Namecoin is actually used in detail. But it seems it works like this:
  • An ordinary Namecoin domain in the "d/" namespace resolves "myname.bit" and provides DNSSEC DS records as well as authoritative name servers.
  • The name servers are configured to return wallet addresses when queried for "something.myname.bit", including a DNSSEC signature.
You can experiment with "d/justinwnewton" and the corresponding wallet "wallet.justinwnewton.bit", which is given as their example.

I like very much that they are using an existing standard instead of OneName'ing us! While I think that id/ would actually be a better fit than d/, I understand their desire to use domain names. (They also seem to "sell" hosting a resolver for ICANN domains.)

Since they seemingly implemented some kind of name server for this (based on Unbound), can we possibly share some code (or, put another way, "recycle" it from them)? biolizard89, have you taken a look?

Also, is anyone in contact with them? I can only find a contact form on the website and no email address. (It looks like the usual "look nice and don't give much information" type of site that seems to be in fashion recently.) Impressumspflicht sei gelobt!

Click on the g+ link and you get their email address and location.
The About page is also worth a look.

(Looks like the project had started with Signing a NameOp VIN.)

Have a look at https://www.netki.com/#/developers
This is quite amazing. It could be the initial spark for a number of other applications based on their concept. They not only provide an API but also created a number of open-source tools for easy integration in 3rd party apps.

One of their developers (Matt David) has been talking to Ryan and me on IRC for a couple months. They seem legit. I admit that I haven't had time to look at their code or product much. I'm definitely interested in any potential collaboration if there are points of common interest (which seems likely).

Interesting read: https://forum.bitcoin.com/ama-ask-me-an ... t2465.html
Note Justin's remarkable answer after being asked about the business model of Netki:
We want people and companies to use us as a service provider because we provide a great service at a fair price, not because we have locked them in to our technology.
IMO this statement alone puts Netki clearly ahead in terms of credibility and transparency over many other VC/IPO-financed enterprises.
