Why was my thread locked?

Post by nelisky »

I was just about to post on https://forum.namecoin.info/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2225 when I noticed it is locked... I didn't lock it and also didn't receive any message regarding such lock.

What happened?

I'm not sure (since I didn't lock it)... I'll wait for whoever locked it to chime in here with the reasoning. I don't see anything obviously wrong with the thread (unless there's a policy I'm unaware of).

Rate limiting: too many meaningless bumps. There is no forum policy yet but it should be common sense. What is ok? Once per week? Once per two weeks?

I unlocked your thread, take it easy now.
nx.bit - some namecoin stats

Really? I mean, yes, out of the four posts three are bumps, but all but one add some information.

And never twice in the same day, which I would think would be the "logical" limit for bumps. But hey, if those are the rules I'll comply and obey... will keep bumps spaced one week apart, just let me know if that's too short too.

PS: the keyword here is "let me know"! Locking a thread just because you can, based on an assumed rule that has not been written nor advertised and on top of that say nothing to the person affected by such rule is, in a nutshell, rude. A little communication goes a long way.

Your OP and the bumps can (very) easily be perceived as SPAM. Nobody informs spammers about them being locked. It's pointless.
