Hi, I have an old version of namecoin (0.3.67) and do not know if you are renewing my domain.

It is mandatory to upgrade to new versions? Now I'm at it

in the program appears to me as updated, but I searched and does not appear updated dotbit.me me,
the strange thing is that I upgraded others and these appear updated dotbit.me

thanks :)

and happy new year :D

Hi aristoteles,
It is very recommended to upgrade to the new version. If you use the old version and you get an error message then nobody can help you.

Yes, one of your domain names has been updated a few days ago.

(For clarification for other people reading this post:
aristoteles keeps some of his domain names at dotbit.me. When asking if "you are renewing" the domain names, he confused the owner of dotbit.me with the admins or developers here at this forum, I think.)

In general:
  • If your names are stored in a paid account at dotbit.me then they get renewed automatically. (Disclaimer: the owner of dotbit.me is not an admin of this forum. He is not a member of the Namecoin developers/maintainers team either. If you keep your names or NMCs at third-party wallet sites like dotbit.me there is always a risk of loss.)
  • If your names are stored in a free account at dotbit.me then they don't get renewed automatically AFAIK. Ask dotbit.me's admin for details.
  • If you keep your names locally in your Namecoin-Qt or namecoind client (i.e. in your wallet.dat file) then you have to update each name manually every 6 months approximately.

Hello cassini,

And thanks for answering. And excuse my bad English.

The domains have them in Namecoin-Qt with version 0.3.67. The renewed effectively. But I have no way to verify whether you are upgrading perfectly, the best option I have at the moment is to verify that appears in dotbit.me whois (but do not have them there). I downloaded the latest version of Namecoin-Qt but I get error. And not take much to expire multiple domains that I have.

I'm trying to update my version of Namecoin-Qt, but while I wonder if indeed my domains were updated, and do not know what form could verify that since I explorer.namecoin.info apparently is not updating the records.

I'm not sure I understand. The blockchain explorer at https://explorer.namecoin.info should show if the name was renewed.

Interesting, I hadn't noticed that the newer name ops weren't showing up. I've filed a GitHub issue for that: https://github.com/namecoin/meta/issues/14

In the meantime, it looks like https://namecha.in/ is working. You can also use the name_show or name_history RPC command if you have namecoind installed.
