We have already a couple of concurrents. Some of them are already sunken on the marketcap list.
I thought from datacoin will be something but they are on the 211. position now with $ 26,642 market volume. By their development was also not very much done.

Craftcoin was created for Minecraft but they are sunken to place 490. with less then 1$ market volume.
So Emercoin wants to take their place for Craftcoin with Namecoin functionality and Peercoin mining.
I am not sure how will affect Microsoft's takeover on Minecraft.

Privacy concerns. They are blockchain-based, but providing an existing domain registration, and some sort of proof that you own it seems to be a requirement (at least for now)

If ICANN-style domain is associated to your blockchain-based one, then WHOIS will show owner info, assuming you play by ICANN rules and provide valid contact info. WHOIS is a privacy problem in legacy system, and it's on a path to get even worse. Also interestingly, they are trying to use the wallet software as DNS resolver, right? I wonder what the plan is to have these names resolve for the average Joe, who does not have the wallet?

Also interesting to see variable expiration times. Seems they're storing <= 20k per record too. Squatting concerns addressed by deteriorating reg fee, sound familiar?

Finally I see that registration is not followed by some sort of update, so I wonder how will they prevent a bad actor from trying to grab a domain name as soon as you see someone trying to register it? I mean send the same name_new quickly and hope to win the race?
