That's sounds very similar to the Namecoin WOT I have been writing about sometimes. We should do exactly that with IDs.

Very interesting. He wants to do not only identity, but reputation!

Note also that OpenBazaar is trying to implement a reputation/"WoT" system for their marketplace. They have quite some interesting ideas as well (and they want to link to Namecoin IDs, which would be huge!).

Re: Identifi (Sirius Interview)
well, there could be a special transaction or flag that ads reputation points to a name, but to prevent spam, this should only be done by people that already has reputation.
Maybe client can hardcode a few devs names that start with reputation 10.
and the reputation is lost should the name expire or it's updated too often (because private keys lost or spam).

NMC: more stable than BTC!
Re: Identifi (Sirius Interview)
OpenBazaar has two types of "reputation": Local and global one. The local reputation/trust works like in a friend-to-friend environment (think Retroshare), where every user projects their own trust onto someone else, depending on how much they trust their "friends" and how much those trust the others and so on. Global trust is gained by a proof-of-burn or proof-of-timelock transaction. This is similar to the already proposed idea of staking coins at a name's address to gain reputation from coinage.tosh0 wrote:well, there could be a special transaction or flag that ads reputation points to a name, but to prevent spam, this should only be done by people that already has reputation.

off topic: Do you have an idea how this could be actually be implemented in a resource efficient manner? By just pointing to the block where it happened?domob wrote:Global trust is gained by a proof-of-burn or proof-of-timelock transaction.
