i think satoshi posted long time ago about wikileaks attention to btc: that the system was still in it's infancy, and didn't want to bring unawanted attention. "it will kill us". He later dissapeared after the words c i a were mentioned by G.A.
J.A. maybe didn't talk about namecoin for the same reason.

To my knowledge Assange waited about 2 years before endorsing Bitcoin publicly and using it for WL donations. WL's hand was forced by the banking blockade initiated by Joe Lieberman.
