MIT TechReview Commentary on interwining of politics & money

Post by drllau »

http://www.technologyreview.com/view/52 ... l-problem/

- current monetary design bases the amount and nature of money in the economy on an interaction between government policy and what private individuals want to hold

- assuming that the state can be bypassed is unlikely to work

- governments will have a lot to say about goods/services, such as whether you have paid tax and whether the transaction is legal

Perhaps part of the issue is that namecoin et al are a technological mechanism and inherently value free whereas any group of humans want a modicum of regularity and conformance if only for self-identity reasons.
