Yes we need .. i've thought it would be a good idea to collect all good Namecoin ideas in a widget, vote for them and then just share all Namecoins donated to all these projects to parts like they are voted ;)

No problem as long as the title is related to the "action".

Great work, biolizard89 & MWD!
(e.g. usernames at exchanges).
see http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/frees ... it-plug-in
I'd suggest you include the pseudo-anonymous nature of the blockchain as a second example. Someone in a country with a questionable human rights situation may start using FreeSpeechMe, takes care of his anonymity only at the exchange and thinks it is sufficient as your example indicates this. Yes, the FAQ explains it a little, but that is all too easily overlooked.

By the way, a small donation is on its way (one billion Aarons. Not enough for the T-shirt, I'm afraid. Maybe next time ;) ).

This is a great contribution to Namecoin but unfortunately I didn't succeed until now to get working.
Now I will try directly on a multi-boot machine without virtual environment.
I can imagine how difficult it was to develop it if even to try it is not so easy. :)
Thanks.

Thanks!

khal, vinced, Mox, appamatto, phelix, itsnotlupus, Mike, biolizard89 et. al are the stars. I'm just the incessant 21/7 loudmouth who plans to take Namecoin DNS from "Huh? I think I've heard of that" to "Of course I use that! Dot-Com is soooooooo last century! ICANN is for great-grandmas and politicians"

I'm working like 19 to 21 hours a day on it to the point of literally hallucinating. And I haven't done drugs (except caffeine and nicotine) in almost 20 years. But one of these days I'll get some sleep.
I'd suggest you include the pseudo-anonymous nature of the blockchain as a second example. Someone in a country with a questionable human rights situation may start using FreeSpeechMe, takes care of his anonymity only at the exchange and thinks it is sufficient as your example indicates this. Yeah, the website was thrown together pretty quickly. (Though I'm pretty proud of how much Jeremy and I were able to get done considering his more-than-full-time school and homework schedule.)

The website is a work in progress. (And we do need a tech forum. I could set one up on freespeechme.org, but I'd rather bring the traffic here, so new FreeSpeechMe adopters can learn more about Namecoin, if y'll are into it. Do any moderators have a desire to set up a FreeSpeechMe sub-forum here? If someone does, I'll edit our website to send people over here. I've also got about a dozen people e-mailing me clamoring for one.)

And yeah, the pseudo-anonymous nature of the blockchain is an issue. Many tech-illiterate "journalists" sold BTC as "anonymous" because it sounds good in a headline. To even APPROACH anonymity with a cryptocurrency, one would have to use different VPNs, FreeSpeechMe, https, and a different address for each transaction, and send the addresses to truly trusted friends only, via Pidgin OTR.
Thank you for the heads up though. I just added the above in the Tech FAQ, right above Jeremy's part about FreeSpeechMe and Tor. http://www.freespeechme.org/advanced-faq/ )

I'm explaining that when I can. Explaining all of this quickly to non-tech people is difficult. First I have to get them to see WHY they'd want to jump through a tiny hoop to install an easy-to-install plug-in. Many people are too busy to think ahead, and will only clamor for FreeSpeechMe when their favorite website (or their own website) gets shut down for some reason.

Like when I get five or ten minutes on a radio show interview, I can only explain the VERY basics and try to get people excited enough to actually go to the website and CONSIDER installing FreeSpeechMe.

Because while BTC is now exciting, NMC DNS is like "huh?" to many people. Trying to get people into it is like trying to get people into Bitcoin four years ago. It reminds me more of early 1995 when I was trying to get people to check out the Web. Actually this is maybe more along the difficulty of when I'd try to get friends who didn't own a computer into Gopher in 1992. But it needs to be done. Dot-Bit can save the world, and FreeSpeechMe makes it easy. So I HAVE to devote all my time to this right now. I'm on a mission.

A few months back when I called HostGator for info on setting up my first .bit domain (which actually turned out to be quiet easy), I had to call back 4 times until I got a tech support person who had HEARD of it. And he said "Isn't that using Bitcoin for DNS somehow?" And Hostgator's tech people are, in general, way more savvy than at a lot of cheap hosts that aren't aimed at programmers.

But I HAVE been mentioning "This would help protect web access for people in countries where the Web is heavily censored" in radio interviews, and in pitches to heavy hitter tech rock stars and magazines I've been approaching. Especially in light of the stuff going down in Turkey.

I also have a friend in Iran translating the promo video into Farsi and recording audio of him narrating it so I can make a version of the video for Iran and other Persian-language countries.

Farsi is also spoken (or at least understood) in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain. Most of those countries have a lot of Web censorship. And Bahrain has a worse record with human rights abuse than North Korea.

I also have native-speaker translators making audio for the video in their language in French, German, Croatian and Italian. And Greek, which many people also speak in Cyprus. Cyprus is is a country where they suddenly started loving cryptocurrencies after the government raided all their bank accounts recently.

I'm trying to find someone to translate in Arabic and Korean. And the different spoken flavors of Chinese. I'll make video versions in any language, but am especially interested in languages spoke in / near countries where the net is heavily clamped, or there is economic unrest. That's the market we really need to reach.
http://www.freespeechme.org/looking-for ... hme-video/

Translating the program wouldn't be hard either, there isn't that much text in the interface. Translating the website would be much more work, it's sprawling. It's a short book already at this point. (And the screenshots would have to be re-done on computers local to the language.)

But if I can get the video translated into a bunch of languages, it will help. English is the 4th most common language in the world. But it's by FAR the most common second language. If I can get good versions of the video in other languages, enough to interest people in those countries, most people know enough English (or have a friend who speaks enough English) to walk them through a simple install like FreeSpeechMe.
....one billion Aarons.....
Love it. Lol! Thanks man.

I tend to write long posts with lots of info, and edit them until they're perfect (after I post them! lol). Most people look at my posts and think "TLDR", so it's really nice when someone digs one.

If you want to hear me at "public events" (doing radio interviews about FreeSpeechMe, Dot-Bit and Namecoin) on no sleep, there are a few of them here:
http://www.freespeechme.org/press/

By the way, those are non-tech shows. I'm going to bring Jeremy, and/or have him go alone, when we get some interviews on anything more technical than a general interest show like those. I'm working on getting interviews on more tech-savvy shows and in tech magazines and blogs.
