Are you joking? When i understand you right, domob, it only needs a GUI and maybe some lines of code for the core functions? This IS definitively a big thing.

If there is a possibility to imlement renewal fees into NMC after release, this would force cybersquatters to trade them.

They will get exactly what they want and for me as a buyer - i am interested in buying some good .bit domains over the GUI.

Is it a good idea to implement a "countdown-model" for trading domains, to keep the workflow easy in the GUI ?

Example: Bob wants to sell domain a.bit b.bit c.bit. He is selecting a.bit, a window is opening, he sets a price, confirms it and waits. The domain is now visible in a global trading list, and the countdown is going down to the block he would have to pay usually the renewal fees. As the countdown is going down, the price he has set is going down to zero, and visible in the global list.

A buyer can look through the domains now and buy a domain for the price he would like to pay. The only thing he has to do is, klick "buy" - the fees are paid automatically and the domain is transfered.

The seller is able to cancel the auction during the auction, but would have to pay the renewal fees, of course at the end.

This means, we would need a button "trade" in the "managing domain" list next to each domain in an extra column, a trade section containing all tradeable domains as a list with fields "domain" and "price" and a filter/search field to keep the list small, and a next and previous arrow. A click on the domain title will sort alphabetically ascending/descending and a click on the price title will sort ascending/descending (nice to catch cheap domains). The last column is just a "buy" button. I think this model has the lowest complexity to be implemented in a GUI and would attract people to trade domains, like decentralized Sedo.

The options of a cybersquatter (domain trader) after implementing this feature would be:

1) use the domain and give value to the .bit domain
2) wait longer and paying the renewal fees again (my suggestion would be that domains are not destroyed, just spread the fees to a RANDOM NMC address to keep the 21 millions, i am sure NMC wallet holders would like this small feature 100%). This way you could use HIGHER renewal fees to force cybersquatter to trade these domains really. Somebody who would like to add real value in form of a .bit website is paying the higher renewal fees.
3) selling the domain for the price the first buyer accepts and keep smiling ;)

I will pay for this as soon as it is finished and implemented in the GUI. From my side 100$ in NMC and a good article over Facebook and Google+. This is one puzzle piece to get get a lot of interest to Namecoin. You can count with additional donations from friends of me, when this feature is really going to be implemented. Deal ?

Best regards,

Sudo.

@sudoquai , I've created an issue at GitHub to track this feature, along with a proposed design (PyQt wrapper around phelix's scripts). https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin/issues/155

Please post in that thread with any comments about whether that design is acceptable (or if you would like to request changes).

If a design is agreed upon by you and the dev team, you can fund a bounty at https://www.bountysource.com/issues/381 ... me-trading . I strongly recommend BountySource to avoid fraud risk for both parties.

Cheers!

Hello Bio,

Sorry if this sounds disrespectfull, but i've wanted to hear the opinion first from domob, because i've thought he is very active about this idea.

I would like to discuss this first with him before i hurry to make a bounty where my funds would be locked.

Best regards,

Sudo.
