Re: What can I do to help ?

3rd-party DNS servers, and there simply is no way to fix that. I agree, but at the moment we have to live with it. This is the shortest route to a hopefully soon to arrive easy-install .bit browsing solution for the average windows and android user. As soon as this works and the field size issue is...

Re: What can I do to help ?

First check if the DNS setting procedure works on your PC: try the MANUAL process for Windows XP as seen at our old wiki, http://dot-bit.org/SystemWideDnsSettings (steps 1 to 9) Some of the menu items may look different in Windows Vista. In doubt consult some external help page, e.g. http://www.plus...

Re: Namecoin: name_firstupdate stays unconfirmed

Do you own the namecoin address of the name (N24z2xhDPPEeWvQZsuZ5VbiE7htLYDU83a) ? It says ismine=false for that address. Where do you see the address info for a name? lol ... khal was talking about erikerikerik's case and not about psionin's case. N24z2xhDPPEeWvQZsuZ5VbiE7htLYDU83a belongs to d/di...

Re: What can I do to help ?

This task is quite important, but nobody has volunteered to do it on a regular basis: to check the .bit-enabled DNS servers manually (maybe once or twice a month). If you'd like to help on this I can post the instructions here. What is your Windows version at the moment?

Re: Should Namecoin Emphasize Currency Over Name?

I think the currency feature is as important as the name feature. There is no incentive to mine or merge-mine Namecoin if NMCs have no monetary value (i.e. interchangeable with Bitcoin and fiat money). I don't think the Mac OS X port even works. maxpower's Namecoin-Qt works. Not sure if it is a perf...

Re: pending (update)... what do i do?

just delete everything in datadir except wallet.. This is always a good idea. It rules out any problems with corrupt files. Before, however, you should be absolutely sure you know the location of the relevant directories. To speed up the restart after deleteing all these internal files you can star...

Just wondering. You think a 0.00 fee is too expensive, ... :? :?:
A few minutes ago I tried a renewal (name_update) and checked what it costs:

Re: Namecoin: name_firstupdate stays unconfirmed

I noticed this behaviour, too. It seems that if someone does a name operation and switches off his machine instantly, this name is in a limbo. If I try to take this name, the name_firstupdate gives me a {"code":-1,"message":"there are pending operations on that name"} After that, one of these can ha...

Re: GHash.IO currently submitting more than 51% of NMC block

Just knocked up a quick-and-dirty script scanning the coinbase fields of the latest 1000 blocks. Results: http://pastebin.com/RGpngqnD Of these 1000 blocks we have 553 blocks with a coinbase field containing just "04efaa0319010152" (shows up as ".......R" in std ASCII). If "04efaa0319010152" is ghas...
