Re: Discussion for revised fees

We could just have it set at a fixed dollar/namecoin exchange rate. We can't set that internally, but it could be set to pool the price from multiple exchanges. We would have to figure out how to smooth out price spikes but it would be a hell of a lot better than fixed price we have now. It would t...

Re: "pidof namecoind" shows many many processes running?

no, it's a webserver. All daemons are gen=0

cpu is not so much used at the moment, but ram is completely full.

Re: Discussion for revised fees

I have no idea. But I am sure that 99% of namecoins recent rise in price has absolutely nothing to do with how high registration fees are. It is simply new investors putting their money into "whatever" altcoin they can find. I think none of those investors even cares about the bitdomain-space. If on...

"pidof namecoind" shows many many processes running?

Hello everybody. I am working on two projects. One is a general altcoin overview site, the other is a namecoin project, kinda like a bitdomain-explorer. So I am installing all those daemons on my ubuntu linux server (has about 24 gigs of ram) and so far so good. I compile all the daemons from source...

Re: New .bit proxy. Just append .pe to URL.

this doesn't work anymore, am I right?

with test.bit.pe I am redirected to fma.com (Future Media Architects)

Seems to be the case with every *.bit.pe subdomain.

Did they scoop your domain bit.pe or what?

Re: browser check for bit domain capability?

I have an additional idea that builds on top of that. Imagine we build somekind of bannerfarm. Different banner-formats much like google uses for advertizing. Those banners can be placed on your NON-bit domain. For all the users that CAN'T access bit-domains, the banner will simply be a constant inv...

Re: browser check for bit domain capability?

Also, don't show the users advertising... that's not a good reward for installing a Namecoin add-on. I'd recommend just providing a link to the .bit domain for the site being visited, and maybe a link to the Namecoin website. The reward for the people will be that their browser can show *.bit domai...

Re: browser check for bit domain capability?

Hi, ofcourse no plugin has to be installed, the detection MUST take place with what people already HAVE installed on their browser. (javascript, etc) I misused the word "plugin", but ofcourse "plugin" in the further sense would mean "to make your browser capable of viewing bit domains" for example b...

browser check for bit domain capability?

Hello fellow namecoiners, I just had an idea, and wanted to ask if someone already realized that, or if there is a discussion going on about that somewhere. The question is: how would you create a browser detection plugin (javascript or php based, etc) that tells your server if the clients browser h...

Re: access .bit domain no problem, but how to access .bit-EM

Thank you both for your feedback and hints. I have a root server (ubuntu with plesk), and I am also looking to possibly set up a DNS server myself on that server. (have never done that before) Right now I have subscribed to a DNS service were they let me create DNS entries, that I point to my server...
