Re: Proper capitalization of the word "Namecoin"
Well war is a little extreme word, like War on Namecoins or Terror or something? By edit war I mean this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edit_war I don't mind either way, as long as it used consistently, are you in favour for that? Yes, consistency is my first reason. It is used my way all over on Bi...

Proper capitalization of the word "Namecoin"
I'm having an edit war with Moa on the wiki main page over the capitalization of Namecoin depending on the context and wanted to know the opinion of the rest. According to Moa it should be written as follows: - namecoin, when talking about the protocol - namecoin, when talking about the client - Nam...

Re: Merged mining block number
How about you post some rational before you just edit the wiki willy nilly? It is turning into a dog's breakfast ... it's all yours if you want to go around undoing stuff behind me, I could care less. Are you presently building namecoind regularly? Oh? I have to ask permission to edit but you don't...

Re: Merged mining block number
The new link on the main page to the v0.3.21.91 tree won't do because github still shows the https://github.com/vinced/namecoin.git address so people will just clone that. I was thinking about adding khal's tree too but I wanted opinions before I did anything. Not so sure if it's a good idea to have...

Re: Merged mining block number
But difficulty adjust itself each week like in bitcoin to target 10 minutes, right? Retargets are every 2016 blocks actually, but yeah. Difficulty can't increase by more than 4x at a time though, so if suddenly the hash rate jumped to 20 terahash/s it would take a few retargets before the difficult...

Re: Merged mining block number
Depends completely on the mining power of the network. Could be at the end of the year or in two weeks.jtimon wrote:I've been told that block 24K corresponds approximately to the end of year. Is that true?
I wish it could be sooner.

Re: Merged mining block number
Latest commit says that mergedmine was merged into namecoin-mergedmine but I can see the code in master as well. Maybe a mistake?doublec wrote:Has this been merged into master already? Is it checking for block 24,000? People have been complaining about git master rejecting blocks.

Re: Next difficulty
Yes, but there is a limit to how much the difficulty can increase in one single retarget. With a difficulty of 23508.98 it can increase to 94035.92 at most.

Re: Next difficulty
Looks like the next difficulty value is bugged because it went over the 4x increase limit.

Re: Messaging system
I really like it, although I think the network fee will temporarily make this system not very attractive. The public nature of the messages and the 1023 max size might limit its usefulness as well.
