Contact with Namecoin miners

I would like to build contacts with Namecoin miners. This will be useful in the future both to answer some questions about mining-related features I might have (since I'm not a miner) and also for possible future forks. So if you are mining Namecoin and willing to get in touch with me, please reply ...

Re: WDYT about soft fork to enable some Bitcoin features

For P2SH, we already have a regtest since a long time ago - name_multisig.py. I don't recall off-hand what exactly it verifies, but names certainly do work with P2SH (feel free to take a look yourself at the test to see if there's anything more you'd like to test). Segwit should work as well from lo...

Re: Facebook Page

I do have a Facebook account, although I only log in every couple of months (and use it mostly so others can find me and my email address if they want to get in touch). But if it helps and doesn't require me to actively log in more often, I can certainly be admin.

Re: WDYT about soft fork to enable some Bitcoin features

Yes, I agree, we should have support not only by miners (but those are definitely a technical hard requirement for any soft fork). Perhaps also Cassini has some insight, he did some analysis on the network in the past, IIRC. Doing what you describe (shifting the version bits like Viacoin) is certain...

Re: WDYT about soft fork to enable some Bitcoin features

Also, just to be clear: I do not propose to cancel the AAA idea. I think we should do this "simple" soft fork as soon as possible to remove issues with forks activated now on Bitcoin already, but we should still work on AAA and land it at a later point in time (6 months to a year after the soft fork...

WDYT about soft fork to enable some Bitcoin features

Recently, it is getting more and more delicate (and risky) to keep Namecoin on par with upstream Bitcoin code due to efforts that clean up soft-fork activations in Bitcoin that are not yet active in Namecoin - for instance, https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/11739. We have been talking about th...

Re: Namecoin logo licensing

ACK also for non-SA. (I generally prefer copyleft-type licenses, but in this case this makes sense as you rightly pointed out.)

Re: [Brainstorming] Namecoin SPV

If you are interested to look into UNO commitments, there's also https://github.com/domob1812/namecore/tree/uno-trie which I started to work on two years ago. It might be useful to base further work on, but maybe it is also easier to just start from a clean slate. Honestly I'm a bit skeptical that ...
