Re: pull request submitted 21 days ago still not reviewed
Edit: Only branch namecoinq has the typo. Branch master is ok. What are the differences between those two branches? This FAQ exists only on github and the buggy one is the default one when one lands on github... any way of inverting this default? So, I did apply the merge only on one branch... Than...

Re: Storing Contracts in the Name Registry
> change/add/remove registry data. this shifts the problem from one of content coherence to that of authority ... who has the authority to change the terms of a contract, (perhaps unilaterally without notice as with some SNS terms) and identification of those authorities and processes for transfer ...

Re: Maleable transactions
I see this as a low priority issue for normal users. Exchanges need to check their code but if they did it right they should be safe. Let's see what Bitcoin devs come up with if anything. The only solution envisaged is to refuse tx with bad formatted signatures. That is what was planned for bitcoin...

Re: Future Fee System for Names - step 1 : minimal requireme
"Just" moving the $/€ query to the GUI removes the hard dependency between the blockchain rules & some external data. So yes, that's what I want to do, but it makes a big difference. Right, but the price setting voting mechanism would still be in the miners control, i.e. the miners could ignore wha...

Re: Future Fee System for Names - step 1 : minimal requireme
I'm not sure I understand the rational, are you just trying to move the $/€ query to the GUI? "Just" moving the $/€ query to the GUI removes the hard dependency between the blockchain rules & some external data. So yes, that's what I want to do, but it makes a big difference. To make things more cl...

Re: Future Fee System for Names - step 1 : minimal requireme
I think the default should be a trimmed mean based off of multiple APIs USD/NMC rate. I know people don't like the idea of using data sourced outside of the swarm, but there are half-a-dozen major exchanges now and they all offer an API. Between the trimmed mean of the 6 data feeds and the moving a...

Re: Future Fee System for Names - step 1 : minimal requireme
Return domain name fees!? That is like keeping a leech you found for a pet! The whole reason we are able to mend Zooko's triangle is because we have a decentralized value store which costs money to use. A vanilla DHT would be vastly more efficient than downloading the entire chain. But the reason ....

Re: Thinking about domain name squatting
Regarding GPG keys: I didn't ever intend to disallow GPG keys; they are an appropriate use of the blockchain, and if someone stores a GPG key in an id/ name as specified by the ID spec this is nothing we should prevent. If they abuse the GPG key and store offensive content disguised as GPG key, the...
