Re: Scripts or library to crawl the namechain

JZA, no, but you can do nslookup mydomain.bit and if your computer is pointed to a dns server that supports namecoin you will be able to get the regular dns info. I get your point, you want a command that returns all the json info, or even to be able to query like you are on the namecoin-core comman...

Re: how do i get the most out of my dot bits?

well, IMHO, i don't know how well bitcoin/namecoin fits for a corporation, apart from preventing domain-squating, since a it guy in charge of this in a company would be able to run away with the money/domains in case he gets fired. So it will probably require a multisignature for example. Companies ...

@names

It is safer in the sense that your domain cannot be seized, and you can change the ip faster.

It is not safer in the sense that your website (hosting, content) is neither anonymous or private.

Re: Concerns about removing BDB lock limit

maybe i'm speaking nonsense because i don't understand what is the meaning of "BDB locksize limit". I just understand "there's a limit and we don't want to raise it". Is because spam? Maybe i have been mislead by the r/bitcoin trolls. However my question still stand: Why namecoin should be more limi...

Re: Concerns about removing BDB lock limit

I think this is the same bitcoin block size debate etc. i don't think we should implement another arbitrary limit to the growth of namecoin if it's going to require a hard fork to remove it later. First of all, let me state that i also want to be able to run namecoin on my laptop but is not like nam...

Re: Issues with Namecoin 3.8.0 - Not creating files

bio, he possibly sees the latest block as 286386 or something and the blocks he has as 141. This is the problem i was saying on the other thread. it just stops randomly. For a new user to see the block sync count stuck for an hour is like it got stuck forever.

Re: NMC 0.3.80 not syncronizing if connected only to a 0.12

Maybe i need to whitelist this peer or something, but it's basically downloading 20mb and stopping for an hour, then downloading another 20mb and stopping. So around 3+ days. I restarted 0.3.80 many times, and it starts downloading some mb and stops again. I acknowledge it's not a big problem. If yo...

Re: Issues with Namecoin 3.8.0 - Not creating files

if you want more connections you can redirect the port 8334 from your router to your ip if upnp is not active. Do you have the upnp option activated? keep in mind that you cannot have 2 namecoin wallets in the same LAN with the same port at the same time. you can't see the peer connections details o...

Re: Issues with Namecoin 3.8.0 - Not creating files

actually you should try to -rescan first and it should fix the errors in the file.

if that doesn't work you can rename the file that is giving you an error.

if it get stuck just close it and open it again... this is happening to me with 0.3.80

Re: Retrieving Old .bit Addresses

you really need your wallet.dat from appdata/roaming/namecoin on your old computer. did you tried to run a recovery utility on the old disk from another computer? take out the drive and use a external adaptor. You may be able to access it that way. If not, you must wait to the domain to expire and r...
