They probably don't consider it since they have a ton of hashing power. It could be a problem though if for some reason people jumped onto another blockchain or 'earn money with your gpu' system.jtimon wrote:Do the bitcoin developers see this "mine a lot and then leave" as a possible attack?

Re: implications of merged mining / shared blockchain
They tried, but it is broken. I0coin will likely split when the difficulty changes due to this code unless a fix is made.jtimon wrote: I see. Didn't they "solve" it in I0coin ?

Re: implications of merged mining / shared blockchain
Because anything involving 'real world time' to decide when to change difficulty will be problematic with the different clock times in clients.jtimon wrote: Why don't change the retarget to 2016 blocks or two weeks, whatever happens first?
The "mine a lot a leave" could be considered an attack.

Re: imcex.com - new exchange for NMC, BTC, LibertyReserve
You don't have to worry about how safe your funds are at exchange account rather than in your wallet. Keep them in your wallet until an actual trade is to happen. Doesn't this mean people can create orders with funds they don't have? So they can manipulate the market into thinking there's big buy/s...

The i0coin chain has made this change btw. It adjusts when X number of blocks are reached or X number days, whichever comes first.MaxSan wrote:How feasable is it to alter the code to make difficulty update every 14 days?

Re: Merged mining block number
I agree re: high availability though I do have to contend the point that no pushpoold like implementation is multithreaded... poolserverj runs every major task group in separate thread pools... I believe namebit uses a multithreaded pushpoold implementation. My pool is also mutlithreaded. Unless th...

Re: Testnet Merged Mining Block Number
I've seen reports on irc that 'getdifficulty' on the merged mining blockchain reports an incorrect value. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Merged mining block number
In my opinion it is okay to agree on 19k5 despite this fact. This gives people time to upgrade. It won't make sense waiting a few more weeks and than have people upgrade in a short time. I agree we need to give people time to upgrade. But the solution to that is not to add the block number in now. ...

I'd like to see the points raised by luke-jr addressed first.nodemaster wrote: If there are no further concern I'd be glad if vinced could add this block number into the official code base.

Re: Namecoin Difficulty and the Death of the American Dream
I'm at work so i got busy and lost my train of thought, but since i'm already pushing tl;dr, i'll just ask, am i missing something? Isn't it smart to address this immediately? What needs to happen? Can a client update for this give more incentive for people to update before the block 24000 changes?...
