Re: Git

Ah ok, so your interest is on a more abstract level. I thought you were specifically concerned about Github being hostile and compromising Namecoin development, not in general about any such platform centralising development. While your concerns are (on this level) of course valid, I think they are ...

Re: Transfered Domains Show on both accounts

Ok, then probably Brandon or someone else more familiar with the Qt tab should comment on that. You can open an issue on Github (https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin-core), perhaps that will give you more visibility.

Re: Git

Git by itself is perfectly decentralised. Github is "just" used as a convenient tool to host one Git repository (but every developer has their own complete repository as well) and for discussions on issues and the like. We sign our commits using GPG (like upstream Bitcoin), which means that a compro...

Re: Transfered Domains Show on both accounts

Where exactly do those names "show"? In the Namecoin Qt or with "name_list"? The latter is expected to also show names that have been transferred, but they will be marked either by "transferred: 1" or "ismine: false" (depending on which version of Namecoin Core you run). For the Qt, someone else nee...

Re: New Registered names dissappearing

Ok, I'm glad it worked out fine for you. My guess is that you did the name_new but the name_firstupdate somehow failed; perhaps that is related somehow to encrypting your wallet. Anyway, in case this happens again and/or you have more information to debug the problem, please open a Github issue so w...

Re: New Registered names dissappearing

I suggest that you open an issue on https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin-core to debug this. First of all, can you disclose which names you registered and what the txid's are? If you are not comfortable with sharing this information publicly, you can also send to me or someone else you trust private...

Re: An interesting use case for the Namecoin .bit domains

Sure, if you think it would be interesting to try it out "in the wild" with a fork (i.e. new coin you create), feel free to give it a go. Perhaps you can even utilise the Xaya platform (https://xaya.io/) that veterans from the Huntercoin experiment (including me) are currently building - that will m...

Re: An interesting use case for the Namecoin .bit domains

I'm fully in favour of finding more innovative uses for Namecoin - however, as Jeremy said, I do not think "recovering lost keys" is a good such usecase. In fact, I don't even agree that lost coins are a problem in the first place. There have been countless discussions on Bitcointalk about this as w...

Re: Facebook Page

Sorry for the delay ... I think it is fine for me to take it over. How exactly does the process work? Do I have to request that or can you just do it?

Re: Contact with Namecoin miners

Thanks, that is very helpful! I can try to look for contacts with the top pools directly then.
