Re: Donations/Fees to get on Exchange List

I'm fine with either option. However, do you really want to list Vircurex even in the "Basic" category? They seemingly messed up very badly some weeks ago. And it seems they don't even try to be supportive and instead just don't communicate about their state at all. (Disclaimer: I used Vircurex to ...

Re: New Logo

You have a point, the purple isn't nice & the original blue is better. The other change in that logo is that it's not italic, that's a change worth considering. The original logo isn't bad & I'd just make some minor change(s) to refresh it, maybe darker blue, slightly different font, not italic. IMO...

Re: New Logo

Didn't sudo's classic version come out as a fairly clear winner from the informal polls? It's just a refresh of the original logo & still recognisable. Preventing impersonations is more about trademark & passing off laws afaik. Licensing needs to be clear, but I'm not sure it needs to be strict. The...

Re: Web of Trust

Jeremy also suggested using signatures & the signer field in id, along with a nonce value in the wot name. I think that's probably how it'll have to be done.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with wot nodes, please explain.

Re: Net Neutrality - things are about to get seroiuse

I just found an article, apparently network neutrality was invented 10 years ago by an American lawyer, Tim Wu. Why do you fall for this BS? Even people who appear educated suddenly think they're expert network administrators & want to tell ISPs how to run their business. http://www.technologyreview...

Re: Random questions about DB

SQLite is very mature, it's the most widely deployed database engine in the world, can handle large databases efficiently & is more reliable than MySQL. MySQL is a poor choice for anything financial really, or anything where data corruption could be bad. If you're going to use MySQL at all now then ...

Re: Refactoring Namespace: d/name -> d/name.bit

I think I agree with phelix, if we add another tld it should be for some subtly different purpose to .bit & get it's own namespace. It'll be easier than refactoring the blockchain to make it larger, adding '.bit' to every existing name in the blockchain. Just use tld/name rather than d/name.tld I th...

Re: Internet ID good news or bad news ?

Lots of governments have rolled out or are trying to plan to roll out national identity databases. It's bad news if it's government run. There are some clear advantages for people to have an electronic identity of some kind that is fairly secure & widely recognised, but if it's left to state or fede...

Re: Refactoring Namespace: d/name -> d/name.bit

It'll be hard enough to get one TLD recognised. Is there much use for more than one?
