Re: Lightweight / SPV name lookup client (Testers needed!)

t should be noted that webbtc did not work because the webserver did not respond to the API requests, Seems like mhanne's webbtc.com server or software has a configuration conflict at the moment. All the Namecoin API calls come up with a 502 error. The Bitcoin API works perfectly. I've opened Issue...

Re: New Namecoin Client

Just added preliminary OS X build instructions for Namecoin Core 0.13.99 nametab (GUI) beta, see https://wiki.namecoin.org/index.php?tit ... ource#OS_X
I'm going to do a few more tests with different build configurations this week and update the instructions by Friday (23th).

Re: What's the difference between “address” and “account”?

All the "account" commands go back to Satoshi Nakamoto's idea for the Bitcoin client that they should help organizing your Bitcoin addresses (or here: Namecoin addresses). It turned out, however, that it wasn't very helpful in real life but is instead a confusing or even misleading feature. In one o...

Re: Renewing a domain

First of all make sure your CLI client is synchronized, i.e. getinfo (or better: getblockcount ) gives you the same block number as you get at https://namecoin.webbtc.com/ or https://explorer.namecoin.info/stats/block_count.txt You should also check if the amount of NMCs in your wallet is sufficient...

Re: What version should I use?

Currently there are three options for Mac OS X: 1.) Namecoin Core, command-line only, no GUI. This is the official release. Compiles in 30 to 60 minutes on a Macbook with SSD and fast internet connection (harddisk: 2 to 3 hours) when following these instructions: https://wiki.namecoin.org/index.php?...

Re: Is this little script (ncextract) legitimate?

Is this vulnerability (ncextract) legitimate? Hmm, I guess the question is wrong. ;) Let me modify your question a bit: Is this little script (ncextract) legitimate? Or is there a vulnerability? then I'd say it is perfectly legitimate. It simply collects some pieces of information from the Namecoin...

Re: NMC encrypted wallet corrupted!

As far as I know the wallet encryption is identical to the one in the Bitcoin client. Try https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wallet_encryption By the way, what error message do you get when you open the wallet using the Namecoin client? Any clues in the debug.log file? Which client version? Have you already...

Re: What details needed in.conf file?

For a standard configuration setup the namecoin.conf file can be left empty. The .conf file is only necessary if you want to start namecoind with different parameters, e.g. a different directory path for the data files, or a port number different to the standard port 8334, or you want to make use of...

Re: Namecoin Core softfork heights

but you should it make clear in the warning that this is not anything we directly control, ok, good point. so at least those users should try to update as soon as possible as we cannot guarantee any fixed "deadline" for when miners upgrade. It seems to be in miners' best interest as well to upgrade...
