Re: Newbie looking to get involved

Oh man. The governments are interested to propagate the inflationary financial ideology because so they can steal the money from the people with inflation. Namecoin is just like Bitcoin is a honest system serving the users interests. The deflationary economy works very well. Just look the electroni...

Re: Newbie looking to get involved

1. This is a completely different issue and has to do with content delivery and not with the domain system. The Namecoin d/ namespace(now for .bit domains) is a decentralized domain system and not a content delivery system or a webserver. Right, but content delivery is dependent on and integrated w...

Re: [SPEC] Domain name specification

Can I suggest we consider adding a static field? This would enable an optimization to tell browsers not to send session information like cookies to that subdomain. You can find some discussion about it here:

Re: Newbie looking to get involved

The OP mentioned getting rid of the limit on the maximum number of coins. If we want namecoin to be a real currency, here's a reason to do so: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/27/business/economy/in-fed-and-out-many-now-think-inflation-helps.html?from=homepage&_r=0 TLDR: A little, continuous inflation...

Re: [ANN] NameID - Use namecoin id/ to log into OpenID sites

Hmm I suppose I need to think about this more. My intuition is that this authentication protocol does not authenticate the server sufficiently. Also, I think my previously proposed solution does not actually solve the problem. Perhaps if the d/ name is included in the challenge and verification of t...

Re: [ANN] NameID - Use namecoin id/ to log into OpenID sites

Actually, maybe storing the user's known public keys is not necessary if the challenge includes the server's public key. It could be beneficial though to detect if the server's public key has changed, but I'm not sure whether this is useful information. I'll have to think about it.

Re: [ANN] NameID - Use namecoin id/ to log into OpenID sites

I can see a potential attack on this scheme when your login works for multiple sites (A, B). It would work as follows: 1. User (U) attempts to log into site A. 2. Malicious site A sends a log in request to B as the user to receive a challenge (C). 3. A sends U the challenge C. 4. U signs C and send...

Re: Changing id spec

E-mail and XMPP are still secure when used under certain circumstances. For example: I prove to you that I possess an id/ name (I could sign a message with it, or maybe you already trust me to tell the truth), and you later want to contact me via e-mail or XMPP. Assuming that I provide a GPG key or...

Re: Forum blocking IP addresses

I've never used Akismet, but I'm fine with it as long as it works. Are there any forum admins that can look into implementing a solution?
