Re: Changing merge-mining format for BIP9
So this page talks about the change in BIP9 https://bitcoincore.org/en/meetings/2016/03/03/ it's a nice read, my opinion is that maybe the code that change the merged mining process could be added with similar rules. Just test them on testnet, add them to BIP9. Once most testnet users update we can ...

Re: Namecoin 0.12
biolizard89 you are right but i'm too lazy to make my own builds otherwise... So if you are so kind as to build and post unnoficial windows binaries, that would be great. I trust you. And yes, releasing the changes one by one would be ideal. You just need to tell everyone to upgrade each time. Obvio...

Re: Namecoin 0.12
It build just fine with easywinbuilder. at least on virtual PC 2007 with windows xp. We should either wait for some of the currently ongoing efforts (GUI patch and upcoming hardfork) for that, or backport and release 0.12.1 as required. I would like to have the hardfork activate itself two weeks aft...

https://forum.namecoin.info/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2281 Send to the Namecoin development fund and earmark it for development. There's also a bountysource page. If you want that bitcoin supports namecoin, that is more difficult... maybe contact some developer like the guys at mycelium to build a nameco...

Re: Hardfork Wishlist
Another thing we should do: Get rid of using nVersion of transactions for determining whether a tx is a name operation or not. BIP68 will change the nVersion of transactions, which will (somewhat) break this. Should we use one of the bits in nVersion as a flag instead? Is there any reason why we ca...

Re: Hardfork 2016 Value Size Limit
Anyway... Does anyone know what is the average size of a DNS record? Not the average size of a DNS request, but the size of the actual data that a single domain may contain in all the records... I can't find any info about that. Only that a DNS TXT record can be up to 65535 (0xFFFF) bytes long. In a...

Re: Hardfork 2016 Value Size Limit
100% of people who use email should be using GPG. That's the usage level that should be assumed if we're going to evaluate scalability concerns. While the first part of this statement may be true, the second part is not a plausible scenario. Should namecoin raise the limit to support GPG signatures...

Re: Hardfork 2016 Value Size Limit
Most likely 99% of the digital signature users in general will use their government (or company) issued ID card to sign. Because that's what will be recognized in their countries. Example here. I'm not sure what you're responding to. Are you saying 99% of the public shouldn't use GPG? That s...

Re: What is Namecoin DNS useful for?
From a regular internet user, the main use cases could be this: Case 1. To find the real website: for example eztv.it was hijacked. Owner can redirect to the replacement website. Or for anyone, cheap domain registration, let's say i have my web on a free hosting, so i use webpage.bit and if tomorrow...
