Thought it might make for some weekend fun to post this whitepaper. This came from a post on Bitshares forum post, thus the talk about mechanics of auctions and such.

Re: Non Alpha Numeric characters in .bit domains
good conclusion to come to then, .bit, keep as is, and then maybe some other fun but less compatible TLD in the future to allow all kinds of characters Non-alphanumeric characters are allowed, they are just encoded via punycode. I do not believe that this is the case for id/ or other namespaces. Th...

Re: Experimental patch for OS X build support.
I spent some time and could not get anything compiled on OSX, despite manually installing older dependencies, etc. The extreme irony is that namecoin compiled 1st try for me on windows!!! But @sugarpuff has a makefile on github that worked 1st try for me, compiling namecoind on OSX. https://github.c...

Re: Opensimulator + Firestormviewer + Namecoin = Internet 2.
yep - trifecta of currency, identity, storage of data
specifically the data needed seems to be:
- inventory

Re: Namespace idea - nsfw/
That's quite a creative idea! I suspect you'll change some things as people give suggestions and criticisms, and you try things out. Personally I wondered about was the age of 21. Why choose that age? One site operator might want to require a scanned image of government ID, but another might just wa...

Re: funding
Who needs to approve or disapprove of this, and put an "Advertise Here" banner into the bb?
It's needed so people can easily see where there banner would go if they signed on.

darkreading article on SSL & PKI
Sarah Peters takes a humorous look at some serious issues, including the whole cert auth/PKI mess we have currently. http://www.darkreading.com/6-things-that-stink-about-ssl/d/d-id/1278725? Wonder if she knows that Namecoin could provide a nice alternative to the whole digital certificate process. D...

Re: funding
great idea about trying to get flash-in-the-pan coins to advertise, seems like mostly marketing with so may new ones these days I suspect best paying advertisers will not be specific to Namecoin, but probably like Coinbase, Kraken and other crypto companies with marketing budgets. Also should be eas...

Re: funding
I don't think anyone expects lots of money to come from ads on here. But sometimes people are motivated for pretty small amounts of love. If an exchange, or a service built on top of Namecoin, or even some commercial software company running a promotion unrelated to NMC would kick in $100 of NMC to ...
