Re: Coming up: Namecoin Stock Control

'KNOWN ISSUES Stock holders will have to update their names every 36000 blocks (~~eight months) or they will expire. It is possible to tell the address that held the name when it expired.' and this is another problem. The meaning of the expiry field is mostly a matter of concensus. All the data sta...

Re: Namecoin was stillborn, I had to switch off life-support

This is all technical gibberish. I've just had a quick look at the blockchain, and I am wondering: http://explorer.dot-bit.org/n/1 The very day a second NAME_NEW was issued for d/bitcoin (2013-06-17), moa pointed out there ist something fishy with namecoin.com: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?top...

Re: Finding Namecoin threads on bitcointalk.org

:-P It's all there. Here is the full list (correct as of Oct 6th 2013). Use the script above and replace those two variable definitions accordingly. To avoid Google's infamous "Our systems have detected unusual traffic" error, wait some time between each request or use proxies or similar. - historic...

vinced disagreed with Satoshi on at least one point:
vinced wrote:Namecoin is pretty close to what Satoshi described. ... He did mention a renewal fee, but I don't see why that would be useful in addition to the tx fee set by the miner.

Re: Registered Domains Lost

It seems you have two different namecoin environments on your machine.

Search for "wallet.dat" on your harddisk. How many "wallet.dat" files have you got?

Search for "blkindex.dat" on your harddisk. How many "blkindex.dat" files have you got?

Re: Adding namecoin "id/" namespace support into bitmessage

Very promising idea. I'm trying to figure out the technical implications. We issue a name_new, and after this we do a name_firstupdate id/my_shiny_new_identity <rand> <tx> BM-oo8Asu2WaN1UHJdCyJCPPnyvLabtpaEbe Then there must be some entity in the bitmessage network with access to this information, o...

Re: How to Secure Wallet File?

I keep my wallet.dat in a password-protected OSX "sparseimage", see below. In this setup these are the steps for using namecoin_osx64: 1.) Double-click the sparseimage 2.) Type-in the correct password ---> The sparseimage opens (or "mounts") and it looks like an external harddisk or usb device. Duri...
