Re: BTLS: Blockchain-based Transport Layer Security
I also agree that this (including the certificate rules, hash method and all that as you describe it) should be defined as a general-purpose spec (like "import") and not confined to a particular namespace. Different namespace definitions could then reference these rules. For instance, in the contex...

Re: BTLS: Blockchain-based Transport Layer Security
My goal is a general purpose key pair. TLS user authentication is just the beginning to show the benefits of blockchains. ;) We can also use it for email encryption (S/MIME), code signing, instant messaging, VoIP, ... In "d/"-namespace we can use the x.509-application with two changes: * "Subject: O...

Re: BTLS: Blockchain-based Transport Layer Security
I'd like to add a new application to Identity-namespace in Wiki: Application x.509 Description Fingerprint of self-signed X.509 client-certificate Rules value = hash(X.509 client-certificate) Hash algorithm = Hash algorithm of certificate signature algorithm (e.g sha256WithRSAEncryption -> sha256) C...

Re: BTLS: Blockchain-based Transport Layer Security
Sorry, "id/" it is, of course. ;) This wouldn't authenticate domains but it would be a simple approach to show the potential of blockchain-validated globally unique names. Server admins are a relatively small group with professional knowledge which would simplify the rollout of such an authenticatio...

BTLS: Blockchain-based Transport Layer Security
Hi, I want to suggest a relatively simple-to-implement authentication mechanism based on Namecoin: 1. User registers a username in \u-namespace 2. Namecoin generates a self-signed X.509 client-certificate matching the username in \u-namespace (Username = Common Name) and runs an update to add the fi...

Re: Cheap .bit resolver hardware
Have a look at NamecoinToBind. But setting up a linux box with Namcoind, BIND and NamecoinToBind is a NoGo for John Does. The only realisic way is a Plug&Play hardware which only has to be connected to the network and usb power supply.

Map .bit domain to another
Hi,
I'm using virtual hosting, so all .bit-domains have the same records. The conventional DNS doesn't allow a CNAME for a second level domain.
Is there any way in Namecoin to map "a.bit" completely to "b.bit"?

Re: Phone number namespace
I'll post to the list and offer my/our help. Great! :-) From my naive point-of-view, it seems that you should use Namecoin ID's instead of a new namespace for "numbers", though - and then offer to call a particular identity via your softphone. It would be great if we could just select a contact in ...

Re: Phone number namespace
@biolizard89 @indolering @khal David Sugar the maintainer of the GNU SIP Witch project is very interested in implementing a blockchain into GNU SIP Witch to map self-assigned phone-numbers to SIP-URIs. As he has no experience with implementing a blockchain I want to ask you to contact him via the GN...
