Re: # of names
Well, an unused domain looks just like an actively used domain according to blockchain validation rules. That said, increasing renewal fees a lot (at least 1 USD per year) would have a superficially similar effect, in the sense that it would become prohibitively expensive to own huge numbers of dom...

Re: Building a more secure namecoin wallet
I'm building a more secure wallet for Namecoin that adds multi-factor authentication and other features on top of the standard wallet. Does anyone want to help me test this when it's ready? :D I'm almost in the prototype stage but there's still a lot of work ahead so I can't give an ETA yet. Also, ...

Re: # of names
Don't know whether it is a squatter or not but to give you some historical perspective, when the US congress wanted to develop cross-continential railroads, they allocated development zones (think real estate) in alternate blocks on either side of the line (think chequerboard). This discouraged mono...

Re: Paper about Bitcoin / Namecoin difficulty control
Wonder if the variation might be applied to side-chains with faster update turn-around. Essentially everyone uses a global set of ledgers but it takes 15 minutes to collate and mine the next block. But if broken down into subsets with larger "clumps" of closely related transactions (think stoshi dic...

Re: Jekyll port of namecoin.org
In terms of security, a set of static pages has some advantages, basically by "refreshing" it periodically you make it immune from browser-based graffiti whilst the git-hub has some mechanism for tracking down deliberate defacing changes. Just a minor note, Atlassan has a "free-tools" initiative for...

Re: Best collateral loan for p2p lending services
Cross currency loans are bad. Particularly so with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies involved. see how the Swiss do it with their WIR framework . You can define the units (optional) as normalised to a unit of electricity or altcoin (so long as the contributors agree). You can have units backed by ...

Re: Best collateral loan for p2p lending services
this should already be covered by personal property securities legislation. you can register assets whether car, boat, plant/equipment (mining rigs?) and so long as can find someone willing to lend in bit/name-coin the existing mechanisms can handle it. what is a little trickier is putting a value o...

Re: Entropy Generator Dongle
For the more technically minded, how is this chip going to 'generate' (collect?) entropy? Is it even possible on an FPGA? Othehhr devices seem to use some analogue electronics to measure something unpredictable. See the (successful) kickstarter campaign https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/moonbase...

Re: Namecoin.org
namecoin and others of its type tend to be community driven processes and thus not really suited to a limited stock company structure which is all about risk taking/minimisation. However, there are alternative forms such as L3C (low profit corporation) or UK's Community Interest Corporation. The mai...
