Re: Namecoin Faucet

A namecoin faucet is a great idea.

I know it really sparked something inside of me when I got my first few bitcoins from the faucet.

I probably told 3 people about it that night.

Re: implications of merged mining / shared blockchain

The only problem I can really forsee is some kind of backlash or revolt amongst mining pools for whatever reason. Imagine that deepbit.net decides to take us up on the mergined mining offer after block 24k, if only to place a few hundred thousand namecoins in tycho's personal pocket without telling ...

Re: Namecoin market ticking timebomb?

I don't see why everybody is worried about merged mining.

The creation rate of namecoins will even out within 1 month I can assure you, probably much sooner even. Then all we will be "stuck with" is tightened network security and less of an "early adopter problem".

Re: Renting Names

Why allow the owner to revoke renting at all?

Simply set a date in the future at which point rental "deed" will be revoked.

I don't believe the owner should have any say over the use of the domain during the rental period.

Good idea, I like it.

Re: Forum moderation policy?

Why host discussions about trading period if you want to keep the forum "professional"? Leave the trading and talking of possibly illegal goods to another website to deal with. By trading discussion I meant an homologue to this subforum: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?board=8.0 Probably wasn't ...

Any big stories that we do find, please post them here as well and ask that somebody add the relevant information into the Namecoin wikipedia article.

Re: Namecoin 3.21.90 releases + Must update before block 24'

The title of this post is a little confusing. If it were me, I would have titled it: You MUST update to Namecoin client to v0.3.21.90 before block 24,000!!! Is that even correct, however? Is that what we are required to do? Update to that release before 24k? Is that what this thread is saying? Yes....

Re: Time stamps off in block explorer???

Thanks that makes sense given the rate at which we were generating blocks. Yes whenever we get into the area of solving blocks every few minutes, there is bound to be some discrepancy in time amongst mining rigs. Not sure if there is any disadvantage to this whatsoever, or why we even show the "tim...

Re: Is the dollar value of namecoins preemptively capped?

imho, once popularized, a .bit domain registration will be worth much, much more than a regular .com registration. Can you list your reasoning behind your opinion? Sure. People have no problem paying for "protection". Look at whois privacy for example. That alone is worth an extra $3 to $30/year de...
