Re: U.S. aims to give up control over ICANN
That's an interesting thought, but I'm not sure if people will be content with having their shares issued under such a non-readable namespace name. After all, when you send me a share, I would still have to look up whether the namespace is the correct one for the company I'm interested in. Then I c...

Re: U.S. aims to give up control over ICANN
For ex namespaces with length 10 characters or longer could be registered and this way having control over the entire namespace. Yes, I imagine you said 10 characters for "private" namespaces... in contrast to the open namespaces (like d/ id/ p/ etc) who are very short by design. If I continue your...

Re: U.S. aims to give up control over ICANN
But there is another reason also to create registrations of namespaces, which are controlling the issuing of the names under their namespace. It would be easyer to create shares and bonds in Namecoin with a better overview. For example in googleshares/ could be only shares issued by Google if they ...

Re: OneName
Can someone point me to a place where all known namespaces of namecoin are listed?
I know of d/ and id/
are there other active ones?
does someone keep track of it?
hey... I suppose I should just take a look at the blockchain...

Re: U.S. aims to give up control over ICANN
Yeah, it would certainly be a strange marriage... but stranger bedfellows have existed. What if ICANN just decides to use namecoin blockchain as it is? What stops them? They are open to do so, already they have laid their eyes on it. Much like JPMorgan has probably already bought a few BTC... I woul...

Re: U.S. aims to give up control over ICANN
Sounds like an incredible idea. But somehow we must adjust namecoin protocol so whole namespaces belong to a person (or group) That would imply something like a parent --> child foldersystem that namecoin completely lacks at the moment. I mean, obviously... d/ doesn't really exist. It's not like d/...

Re: Periods in namecoin domain names
Very good.
I will keep this bitdomain alive indefinitely for testing purposes.
I agree that there can be many additional issues that should be adressed.

Re: Periods in namecoin domain names
No, that's exactly the reason why periods are not allowed. I have not checked it, but I expect that implementations (nmcontrol in this case) ignore names with periods and resolve login.chase.bit via d/chase only. If not, that's a serious bug and will/should be fixed. I just checked it. I have bitdn...
