Re: [RFC] Signing files with the namecoin blockchain

Cool idea. Nice work domob. Just to see if I have grapsed the concept; 1) any file can have a hash 2) store that hash in the nmc blockchain as a name, along with signatures of that hash using nmc pub-keys associated with human readable names So it is a way to publish that the file has been generated...

Re: GPG and OTR integration

Watching.

Random thoughts (may not be helpful):
For GPG, namecoin is conceptually somewhat like the look-up function of a 'distributed' key server ... without actually supplying the key. It is authenticating that the fingerprint of the key belongs to the human-readable id/name ...

Re: Adding namecoin "id/" namespace support into bitmessage

Well, as you see, there are lots of ideas and possibilities.... What do you think? I'm willing to give it a try and see how Electrum plugins work. Or do you think it would be better to work on public key checks next (GPG or OTR are interesting)? I think GPG and OTR would be a good place to start fo...

Re: Adding namecoin "id/" namespace support into bitmessage

I think the basic interfacing code to do RPC calls is (somewhat) reusable. Do you think it would make sense to abstract it even more so that one file can be copied to a new project without any changes? This would basically just mean removing the BM specific configuration routines and putting them i...

Re: ToDo Namecoin v0.4

Won't we want to rebase on bitcoin 0.8 and bring namecoin-qt up to scratch before we look at changing the fee structure (with a hard fork)?

For the record, I think enlarging the data field limit by 20 times is a bad idea.

Re: Namecoin-qt?

Here, I created an additional link from main page for namecoin-qt ... feel free to fill in the details. Or change the whole layout if you like. Just a pointer to get you going (if you might need it). The "Building namecoind from source" page also needs some updating/work. Thank you very much. I add...

Re: Namecoin-qt?

Many thanks. I managed to compile it on Ubuntu Precise. It seems that there indeed is a problem with UPNP. I had to disable it in order to compile the sources succesfully. But perhaps I'm missing something there. The dependencies I've found so far: For Namecoin CLI: aptitude install libboost-chrono...

Re: Namecoin-qt?

yep ... why wouldn't it? So on windows it will always create a release folder but not on linux? :?: I've never built on windows so couldn't say ... maybe if you are using the IDE QTCreator (?) it will spread some more crap around on linux .. I don't know. I'm just saying what happens when you use t...

Re: Namecoin-qt?

Are there any instructions about how to compile namecoin-qt (sp?) on linux? I inspected the it will leave the binary executable "namecoin-qt" inside the project dir so to run just ./namecoin-qt Sure bout that? On windows it will drop the executable under ./release cd release ./namecoin-qt yep ... w...
