Re: is this another Namecoin-based system?

From their GitHub:
Prototype built on Bitcoin code to utilize existing crypto, network, CLI, etc. functions (but not blockchain)

Re: Google Summer of Code 2015

I think the description looks good. I just noticed some wording that appeared awkward to me. I think "the first and mostly known such application" should be "the first and most widely known of such applications".

Re: Google Summer of Code 2015

Last year the project was also to port Armory, not to create a standalone UI. The problem I see with making it a standalone UI is that you have to clearly define what that UI is expected to do by the end of GSoC. I actually was looking at applying for the light client project. I wanted to choose som...

Re: Google Summer of Code 2015

I think it's good that you are on top of this. In case you haven't seen it, there is a manual for mentors and organizations: http://en.flossmanuals.net/GSoCMentoring/. The only thing I can think of saying in the application might be that there is already a student (me) who has expressed interest in ...

Re: Google Summer of Code 2015

You guys probably have a better idea than I do, considering that you applied in the past as an organization. However, this faq provides a list of the questions Google will be asking you to include in the proposal. You should probably have the questions answered well before the application period beg...

Re: Android Namecoin Client Bounty?

Whether or not there is a bounty, I think the port should be of bitcoin-wallet. If there is a bounty, I think there should be a separate one for bitcoinj. I think the currency and name operations should be separate bounties. I think the name operations would be significantly more difficult than curr...

Re: Ubuntu PPA/Automating Packaging

I am using a tool called git-buildpackage, which helps with the importing of the source into the git repository and also helps with building the Debian/Ubuntu package from that git repository. While it does seem to be possible with git-buildpackage that you could base the packaging git repository of...

Re: Long-term plan for the website

I use Jekyll for my website. I think it keeps things simple and makes it easy to work with a website. My vote is for using Jekyll.

Re: Ubuntu PPA/Automating Packaging

Going along with the idea of automating the builds, we can setup a private buildd instance for Debian and Ubuntu builds. That is if we have the server resources to do so. The way the official Debian buildds work is the maintainer builds the source package and binary package for his particular archit...
