Re: Tip4Commit Policy?

I have a Namecoin supporting fork of Peer4Commit (a peercoin fork of tip4commit), done by my friend bvsh, if anybody wants to host & maintain it. https://github.com/bvsh/namecoin4commit it'll need updating with some upstream patches & more testing, but it should work.

Re: Fedora 20 package issues

I still have problems with libminiupnpc & your rpm on Fedora 19 too. It'd be better if OBS included Fedora updates, sounds like it's a fault with their system? I don't use upnp.

Re: Testnet block explorer stuck

I'm not sure it supports name operations. I'll probably use ABE unless anybody has any better suggestions, but that doesn't support name operations either. I want to get a working explorer set up for namecoin testnet, I'm willing to host it, I just don't have code for any that support Namecoin's nam...

Re: Testnet Faucet Website [Request]

Cloudflare charge for the privilege of them doing a MITM on your https, I'm just using their free plan for DNS & wont be using their caching service, I'll probably move to my own DNS servers (with OVH as backup secondary DNS) soon. OVH/Kimsufi provide free DDOS protection on all their servers too. I...

Re: Namespace idea - nsfw/

Another problem is this is a centralised verification system & therefore untrustworthy. There's no need for Namecoin in this scheme, it could be done just as well without Namecoin & adding Namecoin to the scheme would just be useless overhead for everybody involved. If you're going to verify ID with...

Re: Namespace idea - nsfw/

The use is too specific. It'd be better to add verification to id/ entries, then it could be used for other ID verification purposes too.

Re: Reimplement Namecoin on Devcoin?

Another option, rather than a full rebase is just to cherry pick certain patches from Bitcoin & other alts. We probably don't need everything, but namecoind is still missing some features like ipv6 & a few useful rpc commands, there may be bug fixes, etc too. Might be the best option in the short te...

Re: Testnet Faucet Website [Request]

I'll be improving the code & getting my faucet back online soon, I've got a much cheaper kimsufi server to host it on now, so I should be able to sustain it. I've got a better domain name for it (with ssl cert) too. Going to try to get it handling errors better & make payouts more configurable. Unle...

Re: Testnet Faucet Website [Request]

Also note that it isn't particularly hard to mine coins on test-net if you need some. (But I still believe that a faucet would also be useful.) It is useful to have a testnet faucet & it's really easy to keep it full of coins with just a little mining. It's that easy to mine testnet coins that you ...

Re: Namecoin's existence, how much time left.

It's nowhere near 90% done, there's lots still to do. If you want to turn your risky gamble into an investment then you should fund some development work.
