Re: Identity namespace

One thing the onename guys have that is missing in id & justusranvier's proposal is social network profiles. I don't understand why you would say that is missing from this proposal: https://github.com/opennamesystem/openspecs/commit/82ede24eb896faec83e4ecdc913a7438859dfcdb#diff-fcf6a5ef3b924df8ae29...

I'd like to get to a place where onename are using id/ & can act as (one of many) verifiers for a web of trust to verify some of the information stored in id.

Re: Identity namespace

I like it justusranvier. The specs need reorganising for both id/ & d/ looks like you've made a good start for id.

Re: Testnet Faucet Website [Closed/Rejected]

Thanks for the donation it's appreciated, especially since the mining difficulty went up. The faucet server cpu mines on a single hyperthread of an Atom N2800, so it's not finding many blocks now the difficulty has gone up a bit. The site is https, so it'll want a cert for a different domain & I'll ...

Re: Preventing trademark infringement

It was resolved for ICANN domains many years ago, WIPO have rules & a dispute procedure to allow trademark owners to take over infringing domain names without needing to take court action. http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/

Re: Testnet Faucet Website [Closed/Rejected]

https://nmctest.net

It's back, look forward to a few improvements when I get time. It's on an affordable server, should be able to keep it running for a while.

I want to run some more testnet web apps on that server & domain too. A blockchain explorer & possibly some name lookup utils.

Re: Problem with namecoin.info certificate [SSL, https]

https://namecoin.info & https://www.namecoin.info are giving me invalid certificates (old, expired, ca cert). Forum & wiki are OK.

Re: id/ format

I had a rethink. I think the easiest answer is to standardise all namespaces on something similar to DNS, for compatibility. Allowing names that aren't allowed in DNS will make it harder for programmers & users to deal with, being more restrictive would restrict the possible names too much. So, maxi...

Re: id/ format

Another thing to think about is international language characters. Might be better just escaping a few special characters & allowing most unicode rather than having a restrictive white-list, at least in the values stored under a name if not the names themselves. I'd rather keep my "id/John Kenney", ...

Re: id/ format

I'd rather keep the single space in my ID, it's my name, it has a space in & it was in the spec in the wiki page I read, I don't see a real reason to change that spec. Could allow middle names too, that'd help when multiple people with similar names register. IMO, it's a name, so it should be format...
