Re: Namecoin & Bitcoin node on the same machine?

Hello, I'm trying to run a namecoin node on a machine that currently runs a bitcoin node, but it appears that bitcoin&namecoin uses the same port to comunicate between nodes (8333)[ Reference ]. Currently i'm forwarding the 8333 port on my router to allow the bitcoin nodes traffic, but i don't know...

Re: Merged mining block number

I have merged mining implemented in two branches in https://github.com/vinced/namecoin .. How does block 24000 sound for launching this? Do you have a 'guide for dummies' on how this works? Just a general overview? Using 'namecoin' and 'bitcoin' instead of 'auxiliary' and 'parent' chain? Block 24,0...

Re: Namecoins not showing in balance

So I transferred ~30.8 NMC from bitparking and it shows up in the account balance but not the -getinfo balance. This has given me some issues because when I run the listaccounts command it show it with a negative balance when it usually shows up almost immediately. Is there a longer period of it ma...

This is normal. Guiminer shows the difficulty 1 shares for solo miners so they can see some form of progress.

Re: Merged mining block number

- BTC Miner is trying to find a solution for BTC share and applies solution with some minor (and fast) modification to NMC share - If a solution is found it is send to the pool in question (or is the solution ALWAYS valid for both pools?) The solution will not be valid for both btc and nmc. A solut...

Re: SOLUTION to the NameCoin problem

What's to stop the same thing from happening in Bitcoin with the transaction fees? Miners would get their own transactions processed for free. Although I'm not sure if that's necessarily a bad thing. Nothing stops this from happening in bitcoin. Some pools do do this since sending out the payments ...

Re: SOLUTION to the NameCoin problem

Owners of high-value domains would want to bid high and get their namecoins early to make sure the domain doesn't expire - making mining quite profitable. How profitable? It would be exactly equal to what value the domain owners assign to their domains, in comparison to what the squatters and new r...

Re: Merged mining block number

It depends on what changes are needed for cross mining. Will mining programs need to be changed or will they work unmodified? Will pool software have to change? if so, what changes are needed? Can cross-mining be disabled so everything continues to work as is so if changes are required they can be i...

Re: SOLUTION to the NameCoin problem

4) Make coins expire every 30 days. Change NameCoin so that it runs in 30-day "accounting cycles". Coins mined become available at the beginning of the next cycle, and expire at the end of the next cycle. This way, no matter when in the current accounting cycle the coins are mined, they have a 30-d...
