Re: Forum OCSP error
Works ok for me. I did not try FireFox, but with Tor w/ with strict OCSP setting, no warning from browser at all.

Re: emercoin
Privacy concerns. They are blockchain-based, but providing an existing domain registration, and some sort of proof that you own it seems to be a requirement (at least for now) If ICANN-style domain is associated to your blockchain-based one, then WHOIS will show owner info, assuming you play by ICAN...

Re: Proof Of Existence
Is the ability to transfer "rights" the only thing you lose by not renewing (name_update)? I don't see why you need to in many cases, like making a claim of authorship. It seems like it would make everthing simpler if you're thinking about documents that can be updated, but I don't think it's ever ...

Re: Proof Of Existence
I'm tying a namecoin identity, like id/mikeward to a signed (but not encrypted) document and a pseudo-timestamp by inserting the hash of it into the blockchain. Thanks for the compliment, glad you liked the article. Also I usually use namecha.in as block explorer these days, I like it. Expiry is an ...

Re: Proposal: Domains should be regularly auctioned
The basic criteria for a domain being "used" is that the value the buyer expects to get from the domain be based on something other than proceeds from resale. Is that an explicit enough definition? No. You can't know what they are planning, or what they expect. You just assumed, based on no evidenc...

Re: Proof Of Existence
Expiry is not an issue unless your "proof" is a spend from that address, or signing something with the corresponding private key. I've been using something like this to "prove" that I wrote articles. http://poa.mikeward.net As far as I can figure, nobody can dispute my claim. It's a proof of concept...

Re: gTLD
By simply stating the obvious, that .BIT is currently being used, and citing some examples, during the public comment period. Every new application is put through a set of filters which vary depending on the type of application. i.e. the conditions which must be satisfied for community based applica...

Re: Proposal: Domains should be regularly auctioned
Mightbemike, with all due respect, the idea that domain squatters provide any value at all (liquidity or otherwise) is utter bullshit. Its the same kind of bullshit that people who defend high frequency trading go on about. I searched to see whether others have come to the same conclusion and I'm n...

Re: gTLD
lol. Should the paper go through it only means that they will keep .bit reserved, nothing more. Reserved for what? There's no real chance of any application for .BIT to ever be approved by ICANN unless it came from this group. Not causing confusion in the consumer marketplace is such a fundamental ...
