Re: Dear squatters!
You could try to follow the blockchain e.g. at http://namecha.in to see what other domain the owner has registered and whether they have contact information on them or lead you to this info. I did it back then, but all I found was more "uncontacable" domains. The owner has renewed them since then, ...

Re: Proposal: Domains should be regularly auctioned
FWIW, this was/is my situation:

I saw a lot of domains with "un-contacable" owner(s).

Re: [Proposal] Changes to TLS spec + Enforcement of TLS for
I don't think that attaching tls fingerprints directly to the ip elements is a right thing to do. Even if we ignore the "strange" syntax, imagine you have one server that is accessible over several ipv4 and several ipv6 addresses, plus maybe over tor or by other means. It would be conceptually wrong...

Re: Issues with domain name spec 2.0
Hello all, I was toying with namecoin-dns bridge (http://www.average.org/pdns-pipe-nmc/), and noticed several things in the domain data format specification that could, in my opinion, be improved. ... The current behavior is for security reasons. If you have a dd/ name in a hot wallet that's suppos...

Re: generation number [name respawn count]
I realized that my suggested autoincremented counter does not solve the problem. If there is an "import" in a subdomain in the "map", and the object that is being imported changes, this will not be noticed unless you recursively resolve all subdomains in the zone. Which defeats the purpose of of the...

Status update: DNS bridge using PowerDNS
There is some progress with my project. It supports most features (including import and delegate) and seems to work ok for me.
So I've made a binary executable for x86_64 Linux, in case someone wants to try it. URL in the top post.

Re: Extended identity fields
Yes of course, that's clear (and has popped up in discussions from time to time). I am sorry, being relatively new here I missed many previous discussions. Still I think this approach deserves more attention. Trying to cram more data into the blockchain (via separate transactions in separate namesp...

Re: Extended identity fields
There is an obvious solution to the problem of limited space in the blockchain. Do not keep any data in the blockchain. Instead, only keep an URL (or other "global address") pointing to a "document" containing the data, and the MAC of this document. The same approach could be used in the DNS, by the...

Re: Berkeley DB
each block from which some transaction uses an output has to be read from disk - and this produces lots of random accesses to the blockchain files. I do not know if this theory is correct, but if it is, then the problem is common to namecoin and bitcoin. If so, it would make sense to address "upstr...

Re: Forum was down for a few days?
I wrote this according to some example on the old wiki. If anybody has a suggestion on how to better format this I am all ears. Perhaps it's not your fault, but the implementor of the resolver. I, too, recall that this format is allowed. The "non-shorthand" format would be, I guess {"map":{"":{"ip"...
