Anyone want the domain bitname.org (for free)?

A long time ago I registered bitname.org to run a namecoin resolver on the public Internet (see https://forum.namecoin.info/viewtopic.php?t=22 for more information). This domain has been unused for years now and it's going to expire in about a week from now. Does anyone want it? I'm giving it away f...

Re: Namecoin to zone file

On https://github.com/sysfrog/namecoin there's a script that generates a maradns configuration. Shouldn't be too hard to adapt this to bind.

If someone is interested in the list of expired domains that are now available for registration again: http://bitname.org/expire.html

Negative expires_in value

{ "name" : "d/", "value" : "none", "txid" : "e6ede2399ea963ccd32071477280bed07ad58af09afd45cd639e2741ca723d3b", "expires_in" : -1021 }, How is this possible? Shouldn't negative entries expire? Or does name_scan also list expired entries, but it is still possible to issue a firstupdate for such a na...

Generation of namecoins vs. demand for namecoins

I think the current way how namecoins are generated is not really optimal, as the amount of generated coins does not directly depend on the demand, but only on the block number. So if the demand for coins (or domain names) is higher then what is generated by the network, domains will be too costly, ...

Re: bitname.org TLD

I'm currently also looking for others to provide nameservers for the "bitname.org" domain. My goal is to have different nameservers operated by different individuals. If one of the nameservers needs to filter a particular result (due to local laws), it would then return "servfail" to the client, to...

Re: bitname.org TLD

Could you use a CNAME and DNAME records to map domains with "ns" to their .bit equivalent ? I currently use NS records, but your solution using CNAME/DNAME records looks really nice. Unforunately it seems that my DNS server (MaraDNS) does not support DNAMEs. I'll look into this. In the long term I'...

Re: bitname.org TLD

Why doesn't http://dot-bit.bitname.org/ show anything??? is dot-bit.bit not registered..?!?! :P I have, but bitname.org does not resolve "ns" records yet. That's fixed now. The problem was that I used the default arguments for the name_scan JSON query (which therefore only returned the first 500 re...

Re: Crypto Comm systems

I think it would have to cost a small amount of NC to send a message Such a system already exists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashcash One nice property about Hashcash is that it is NOT coupled to Bitcoin or Namecoin, as there is no reason to do so. Why flood the block chain with payments for ema...
