Re: The Great Aggregating

Bitcoin recently did reduce their tx relay fee.

Some people argued against it for the reason that it would make Bitcoin ultimately more susceptible to this issue.

Bitcoin's economic disincentives offer significant protections against mempool exhaustion attacks (whether memory, or CPU-based.)

Re: The Great Aggregating

https://gist.github.com/midnightmagic/579cbe6553b3f738a56e I have built a replacement statically-linked namecoind from commitid db10ddb1a712e499068b477af027a3110b3aad3b, 64-bit, from a Ubuntu 12.04.5 host. He didn't specifically name{/b] it though.. Why was that?

Re: Standardize namespaces

I don't think you understand how dangerous blockchain forks and consensus failures are to blockchain-based currencies. Requiring a hardfork every time a namespace spec is updated is completely unworkable. It also makes it impossible to experiment with new features in a real-world setting. I believe...

Re: Recover namecoin.bit + deal with cyber-squatters

We could use eventually additionally to the dynamic fee system a length based domain expiration. domain length 10-19 normal expiration domain length 0 - 9 expiration in half time domain length 20- .. double expiration time Shorter domain names would have a higher recycling rate. :D Intentionally de...

Small additional of optional fields for identity records

I want to add the following optional references to external trust Since signatures can't sign themselves but they can sign each other, we should use a specific selective order for signature iteration; I propose the following order: 1. bitcoinsignature a.k.a. btcsig 2. namecoinsignature a.k.a. nmcsig...

Re: Hardfork Wishlist

What you're describing as "entropy" is just an additional speedbump for people who are willing to mine to store arbitrary data in the result. You increase or decrease the speedbump, and if you do it incorrectly, the effort is wasted, while the side-effects we have to live with until the next hardfor...

Re: [ANN] libcoin rebase attempt

Hello!

This rebasing is a good project, and I'm glad someone is writing stuff re: namecoin. IMO, namecoin is a vital anti-censorship project.

Is the eventual aim to completely replace the base client?

If that is the case, are we making sure we're expecting a hardfork?
