name_update + 1023 chars = "could not sign name coin output"

Here is how to lose control of a name, and possibly corrupt wallet.dat: - tested with: version 0.3.24.63 on testnet - do a name_new - do a name_firstupdate - do a name_update with a 1023 character value string - attempt to do another name_update, resulting in error: {"code":-1,"message":"could not s...

BCX Attack on Namecoin Called Off

In perhaps the best example of social engineering I've seen in a while, miner BitcoinEXpress may be bringing his experiment to a close. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=44149 I am sorry it took these drastic measures to get people's attention, but it wasn't until I had demonstrated lethality ...

Yes, normal. Balance only updates after a block is found by the pool.

Re: Some suggestions for merged mining release....

Yes. Checkpoint lockins are needed ASAP. Such lockins would also limit the (historical) damage a 51% attacker can cause.

Re: Namecoin is Prime for a 51% attack

BitcoinEXpress: I'm a bit confused. About a week ago on bitcointalk.org, when a suggestion was brought up to build tools to attack blockchains, your response was "What a complete and total lack of class." https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40772.msg505804#msg505804 Could you comment on how your...

Re: Namecoin is Prime for a 51% attack

Interesting. As was already mentioned on the bctalk thread, Merged Mining will start at block 19200. If a majority of the network upgrades by then, and if pools start offering merged mining, then we'd expect to see an increase in network speed. Until then, the network speed may remain low and a 51% ...

issue: IRC discovery in version 3.24.60

There is an issue with IRC peer discovery in version 3.24.60. Current system randomly sends clients to #namecoin0 to #namecoin99, but there are not enough active users on the network to support so many channels. Thus, many folks are reporting being unable to get any connections at startup. from http...
